: Law Blog - WSJ.comWall Street ?Sheriff? Schneiderman Gives Minor a Major Role
By Chad Bray
The “sheriff of Wall Street” has picked his chief deputy to oversee securities firms in the Empire State.
On Thursday, New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman (pictured) named Marc Minor, an experienced securities regulator, to serve as chief of his office’s Investor Protection Bureau. Click here for Liz Rappaport’s story in the WSJ.
“Our office has a strong tradition of taking tough, innovative and fair action to protect the investing public,” Schneiderman said. “Marc will be a leader in my administration as we continue this important work.”
Minor most recently served as chief of the New Jersey Attorney General’s securities bureau and previously worked in the Investor Protection Bureau during the tenure of former New York Attorney General Eliot Spitzer from 2002 to 2004, was director & enforcement counsel at the Philadelphia Stock Exchange from 2004 to 2005 and was senior counsel at the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, or Finra, from 2005 to 2009.
“Having served not only as a regulator across the country, but also in the New York Attorney General’s Investor Protection Bureau, I know the office’s full power, and how it can be used to hold bad actors accountable and keep investors safe,” Minor said. “This is the tradition of the office I am proud to continue as Bureau chief and I look forward to the work ahead.”
