After Boston Scientific acquired medical device maker Guidant, it hires Shook Hardy Bacon attorney Tim Pratt to be tis general counsel. KC Business Journal.

Timothy Pratt, a longtime lawyer at Kansas City-based law firm Shook Hardy & Bacon LLP, will leave the firm at the end of April to become general counsel for Boston Scientific Corp., a manufacturer and marketing company for a wide range of pharmaceutical products and devices.

Pratt joined Shook in 1977 and has tailored his practice largely around medical device litigation and toxic tort cases.

He has represented Guidant Corp., a developer of cardiac devices and products, since the early 1990s. The company was a defendant in several lawsuits in recent years for allegedly faulty heart defibrillator devices.

Boston Scientific bought Guidant in 2006, a move that caused Boston Scientific to inherit those suits as well as Pratt's representation.
