Trial lawyers and business agree on bill to curb ADA lawsuits

Trial lawyers and business groups compromised on a bill aimed at curbing the few plaintiffs who file hundreds of American Disability Act lawsuits, The Recorder reported.

Judge would have to grant a 90 day stay of any ADA claim against owners with a special inspector-issued compliance certificate, if the amended version of Senate Bill 1608 passed. It would also mean a speedy evaluation conference between all parties and the judge, aimed at settling the case.
