Is there such a thing as a free comic?
Yes!
More graphically interesting than Law Day, able to leap a tall stack of graphic novels in a single bound, it's a free lunch, it's a reason to go to the comic store around the corner, it's the holiday quickly overtaking Law Day in stature...it's national Free Comic Book Day!
Granted, my stash consisted of Pink Panther, Tweety, and Casper and Wendy (the other half of court-o-rama is far better versed in these things). In fact, I have been accused of only knowing about comics from 1970s tv shows. All of this makes me less than a true geek.
But we do know law and order when we see it. Wonder Woman (on TV anyway) was "fighting for her rights/in her satin tights." She worked for the DOJ, didn't she? If she had had enough free time, she probably would have gone to law school.
Family members (of mine, not of him) confirm that Daredevil is a lawyer.
Everybody knows Batman worked closely with the police after witnessing violent crimes as a child.
And there's some guy called Judge Dredd. I know little about him (sure Tom will fill us in). Perhaps nobody ever called him "your Honor," but he evidently ran around saying "I am the law!" quite a bit. Maybe he was a federal judge.
Happy Free Comic Book Day to all!
Update: Ron Kessler suggests the She-Hulk, who is described as "a somewhat meek and mild attorney" who is the Incredible Hulk's cousin. If there were a Martindale-Hubbell for superheroes, she'd be listed as a former member of Goodman, Lieber, Kurtzberg & Holliway in New York.
