Layoff Watch: Kaye Scholer Trims Five Secretaries

ksYesterday, we tracked some of the news out of Bingham McCutchen and Holland & Knight regarding staff layoffs. “We don’t send and receive nearly as many faxes as we did five years ago,” said a managing partner at Bingham, which laid off 17 staff. “And that has an impact on staffing and on how we organize ourselves.”

Today, the house-cleaning continues, and for the same reason, according to a Kaye Scholer spokesman. Kaye Scholer has confirmed that it laid off five secretaries this morning. “The layoffs were due more to changes in technology efficiencies, such as less faxing and dictation, than due to any economic factors,” said the spokesman.
