Dog Midwife Asks for Deferral: Jury Service Tips in York County, PA

One of the strangest excuses from a would-be juror that York County, Pennsylvania, District Court Administrator J. Robert Chuk ever heard was that the woman's dog was about to have puppies, and she needed to be home with her.

If your pets are not great with child, though, you may need some tips on surviving jury service. Local reporter Susan Haller has put together an excellent list, covering everything from Show Up (#1) to Take a Deep Breath (#10).

According to Haller, making friends, learning something new, going out to eat, and other hidden pleasures await the reluctant juror! By the time you read this, you'll wish for a summons in the mail.
