Texas carried out its ninth execution of 2008 last night in Huntsville; the 414 execution in the state since 1982.  A Reuters report on the execution of William Murray is here. It was the 22nd execution in America this year; the 1,121 since 1977.  Texas has far and away the most active execution chamber in the nation.  It has carried out more than 36% of all the executions in America, and more than 40% of this year's executions. According to TDCJ, 10 more executions are scheduled for 2008.  Five execution dates have already been set in 2009.
