I can't get over how true these thoughts ring!

ADVERTISEMENTS

I frequently go back and pull out old text books, look at new studies or read imposing articles to keep my mind active.

In reviewing a book on Critical Thinking by Vincent Ryan Ruggiero, I can't help but to pause and acknowledge how applicable his thoughts on "Thoroughness" are in business every day.

Thoroughness Is Important

It is difficult enough to reach wise decisions in cases with conflicting obligations when we have identified all the obligations. To judge wisely when we have overlooked on or more obligations is impossible; our analysis is bound to be oversimplied. For this reason it is important to consider all possible obligations - including those of reparation, gratitude, justice, and beneficence, as well as those of fidelity - before attempting to judge.

You may read this and ponder it. Your first thought was this sounds more like every day life, not business. One must realize that if we ponder such thoughts in our everyday life, we too ponder them in our business life.
