Three Seriously Injured in Georgia Car Accident

By Jessica Smagacz

ADVERTISEMENTS

Georgia State Patrol in Toccoa, Georgia reported four people injured in a car accident between two cars this past Thursday afternoon, according to Independentmail.

On Thursday afternoon, a 2000 Mercury Grand Marquis headed north on the Toccoa By-pass in Stephens County. At the same time, a 1984 Buick LeSabre headed east on Highway 184. According to authorities, both cars came into the intersection at the same time. Additionally, both drivers are claiming the light was green.

The drivers of each car (68 year old Marilyn Franklin, who drove the Grand Marquis & Shameka Alexander, 25 years old, who drove the Buick) were injured. Two passengers in the Grand Marquis (Glenda Segars, 67 & 70 year old Iva Banks) were also injured.

According to independentmail, three of the injuries were serious. One person was airlifted to Anderson. Iva Banks is listed as being in neuro-intensive care.

There have been no charges filed but the investigation on this Georgia car accident continues.

This is a terrible tragedy and our thoughts are with those injured and their families.

Do you know what do to if you are in a car accident? As our past post discussed, here is what you need to know if you are in a car accident:

Immediately call the police. When the police arrive, they know exactly what to do. The police will also create a police report after interviewing all witnesses and determining who is at fault.

Make sure everyone else is safe.

Gather information. You must get the other driver’s information such as the vehicle’s VIN number, insurance information, and license plate number.

Seek medical attention/help. Car accidents can cause serious injuries, even injuries that do not arise until much later after the car accident. It is important to see a doctor to evaluate your condition.

If you have a camera, take pictures of the cars involved in the accident.

Call/seek an attorney.

According to Ezine articles, there are several things you MUST not do after you are in a car accident:

Admit fault; leave the scene; wait for insurance companies to contact you or take too much time to call an attorney; sign anything without knowing what the papers say or means.
