Scholarship angst at the children's museum

This weekend I sent my complete manuscript off to the publisher. ("Conscience and the Common Good" is coming in September from Cambridge UP -- begin planning your Harry Potteresque midnight release parties now!) Such a milestone tends to make me think deep thoughts about what exactly I'm purporting to do when I spend a big chunk of my non-child-chasing hours engaged in scholarly pursuits.As it so happens, I was also at the children's museum recently, and I spent a lot of time watching my kids at their favorite spot: a factory exhibit in which kids on one level take foam...
