Dewey lawyer thinks of the children first in landmark Iowa case

Polak_vivian128 Vivian Polak, chair of Dewey & LeBoeuf's diversity committee, filed an amicus brief on behalf of the National Association of Social Workers, the Middleton Center for Children's Rights and other nonprofit organizations in Varnum v. Brien, the case that went before the Iowa Supreme Court and resulted in removing the state's prohibition against same-sex marriage.  Her firm also filed an amicus brief in California seeking to keep the 18,000 same-sex marriages there intact, citing potential negative impact on business should those marraiges be annulled.
