: court-o-rama.orgCaseflow Management: (Not) Too Sexy!
By Anne Skove, Esq.
Were Right Said Fred Canadian, they would *not* be too sexy for their car, shirt, or song.
Somehow, Canada seems to embrace the non-sexy in a way the U.S. can't. This is why, when one looks for articles in the mainstream press about caseflow management,
one finds nothing from the U.S. but a wonderful article honoring the life of a Canadian judge: Late Chief Judge Made Difference, Paul Walton, Daily News (May 12, 2009).
While we're thinking about this scintillating (to us) topic, see also Differentiated Case Management Works, Chris Crawford, Justice Served (August 12, 2008).
Jail overcrowding = excitement (especially when violent felons are released into the general public)! Court innovations = fascinating, but only when involving a drug court graduation! Caseflow management = not a news topic, not sexy, might fly in Canada but not here. What we need to do is tramp this topic up, make it easier on the eyes, and educate the public about it. PIOs, chiefs, take note. Caseflow management: it's just sexy enough. (Which should be a caption on a Fawcettesque poster.)
