By Anne Skove, Esq.
In a switch from the traditionalist paparazzi approach, weatherman Al Roker was chastised for taking photos of his fellow New Yorkers as they all showed up at the courthouse for jury service.
Evidently he did not see the sign banning snapshooting in the courthouse. He claims his photos were taken *outside* -- perhaps he should have gone to law school instead of studying meteorology. Still, let's hope the people aren't selected for a Gottiesque trial.
See Al Roker Gets Ripped for Snapping Court Pix & Tweeting During Jury Duty, Corky Siemaszko, Daily News (May 28, 2009).
Our favorite way of deterring such behavior is the enterprising lawyer who set up the kiosk outside the courthouse and charged people to park their cell phones. See To Thine Cell Phone Be True, Anne Skove, Jur-E Bulletin (March 3, 2007).
