Cat Blamed For Pornography

By Kevin Underhill

ADVERTISEMENTS

Police in Florida say a man accused of possessing child pornography has claimed that his cat downloaded the material while he was in the other room.  The officers immediately apologized for the intrusion and everyone laughed about the crazy things cats do.  The end.

Well, not quite.  According to the report, which I'm now reading more closely, Keith Griffin explained to investigators that he had left the room while downloading some music, and found "strange things" on his computer when he returned.  Obviously, Griffin said, his cat had jumped on the computer keyboard while he was in the other room, somehow changing the download stream from music (probably illegal) to disturbing images of children (very illegal).  This presumably happened just moments before police arrived with the warrant, which is why he had not yet had time to delete the cat's pornography.

Worst of all, the cat had managed to download over 1,000 images while its owner was in the other room.

Griffin is being held in lieu of $250,000 bond.  The cat was released on its own recognizance.
