A consumer alert is being issued by the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). The Wii-mote controller can burn your hands and pose a fire hazard if the battery recharging station overheats.

Six reports of overheating have injured two consumers with minor burns, according to the CPSC.

As a result, the manufacturer, Griffin International, of Minneapolis, Minn. issued a recall for about 220,000 charging stations Tuesday.

Those included in the recall are the Psyclone Essentials and React four-dock battery recharging station. These are units that do not come with the Wii interactive games, but are purchased separately.

The Wii 4-Dock Recharge Station is white with four recharge stations and four rechargeable battery packs, reports the CPSC. Look for the brand name on the front of the packaging and the model numbers, Psyclone (PSE6501) and React (RT530), can be found on the bottom side of the product

The charging stations and battery packs were made in China, reports the Los Angeles Times, and sold at Target, Toys 'R' Us and Amazon.com. The React units were sold at Best Buy stores between the months of January 2008 and July 2009 at a cost of about $50.00.

Consumers are asked to stop using the products and contact the manufacturer for a free replacement. 1-888-344-4702, or productssafety@psyclonegamer.com or online at www.psyclonegamer.com/Wii4Dock. #
