: PeteHoliday.comPete Visits Illinois, August 2009 Edition
By Pete
Scout and I hopped in the car yesterday and drove on up to Illinois. My brother is back home for a few days before heading back to Iraq, so I figured it would be a good idea to come see him. Scout came along because I’m pretty sure Kecia would kill me if I didn’t bring him.
It was a decent drive. One of the best parts about it was driving through southern Illinois and having every other radio station broadcasting a different high school football game. This got me really excited for the start of the college football season, which is basically here.
Upon arriving home, I headed to the bar (where else would my family be?). I hadn’t finished my first beer when my brother decided that it was time to do Irish Car Bombs. I figured it was going to be a long night. A little later, several shots were bought. R.J. ended up with some sort of peppermint shot, while I had tequila.
R.J. insisted that my shot was also peppermint. We argued about this for some time, whereupon I insisted “Okay, if you think it’s peppermint, you shoot it.” He did. He was surprised to find that the shot he was expecting to be peppermint was actually Tequila. He almost puked. Next time, he might consider listening when I tell him what sort of liquor is in a shot glass that I’m holding.
Kecia woke Reesey up when we got back to the house (she’s paying for that mistake today), and she did all manners of cute things. Like this:
I’m hanging out with Ara right now and serving as the responsible adults in charge of a napping Reesey. Later, R.J. has promised more debauchery. I have a feeling that tomorrow’s drive home is going to be rough.
