Insurance Companies Offering Free Cars, iPods, Laptops along with Fairer Claim Services

By Steve Lombardi

Insurance Companies Offering Trade-In Insurance Policy Clunker Program and a Free iPod - some even offer a free back rub!

And if you believe that I'll sell you land in the Everglades along with your own pet Burmese snake. Guess what, your insurance company isn't on your side – shoot, I wasn't supposed to say that just yet. Sorry. After almost thirty years of dealing with insurance maladjusters I'm a little jaded and cranky.

The insurance company isn't even close to being your good neighbor. Why do I say that? Here I can prove it to you. And if I don't you can tell me I failed.

Imagine you get in an accident and the other driver has minimum limits of say $20,000.00. Your leg is amputated and your bills for medical care alone will easily exceed $150,000.00. You're out of work for six months and have no disability policy; so you just figure out how not to eat or pay the mortgage. The kids start to look thin but frankly your spouse hasn't looked this good in years. But sooner or later the banker begins to worry about that mortgage payment and says he's going to foreclose on you. With your spouse getting angry about sleeping in either a tent or the neighborhood storage facility you begin to think maybe your own insurance company could help. So you turn to your own insurance company and file a claim for underinsured motorist coverage. Guess what? You're insurance company has been on the phone talking with the insurance company lawyers of the guy who has only $20,000 of coverage. And guess what they are talking about? No no, not what a nice guy you are.

They are talking about how to beat you out of even getting the $20,000. And why do I know this? Because if you lose the first case you don't have an underinsured motorist claim and so your own insurance company isn't just hoping for you to lose, they are actively trying to make you lose. All those times they phoned to see how you were doing, well they were digging for information to use against you. No way! Way Garth! Get it they not only want you to lose, but they conspire with the guy who caused the accident to figure out a way for you to lose and get zero, zilch, nada. That pain in your stomach getting worse is it?

That's why when they take your statement and act all friendly, when in reality they are just professional liars and spies working for your demise by trying to destroy your claim and your case with the guy who did all the damage.

Now knowing this what do you think of the slogans and jingles the insurance industry pays a billion-gazzillion-Maddoff dollars to have Madison Avenue write? Let's listen together and see if those commercials seem quaint like they used to.

And like a good neighbor State Farm isn't there.

Yeah, Allstate is getting back to the basics alright; the basic plan to destroy your case. If you're going to be in 'good hands' it's because you were smart enough not to talk with the adjuster before talking to a lawyer. This commercial guy should be ashamed of himself; and would be but-for the money they are paying him. The good news is he no longer has to live in the same neighborhood as you anymore. He's moving up and you down. Way down.

Here is an insurance agent selling insurance. He's in the blue suit jacket. You'll see the claims department training video at the end of today's lesson in insurance artifices.

Wait a second, isn't it Nationwide that's on my side? Oh wow I feel so warm and cozy being with them. I think they love me. How come they never show the angry customers who cross my office threshold?

Welcome to Progressive, how can we screw you? Go ahead you're the boss! (Yeah the boss alright; the boss that just lost.)

Here is the red umbrella company protecting you right up until it rains. It's a cardboard umbrella. After you're hurt at work you get to talk with different people than the one's who sold you the policy. Then you're just one a guy wanting something for nothing, a fraud and a deadbeat. Who know maybe if you were a dog they've give you a bone so your family could make soup with it.

No fear? Are you kidding me?

And of course if you see a commercial about people helping other people you could get the impression that the Lib Mut is there to help even you. Responsibility, what's your policy? They mean where is your policy. Because after you're hurt you must be reading the wrong policy; because it's certainly not the one they are reading from.

Here is how most people see themselves and figure they are honest and will be treated 'fairly' by the insurance company during their time of need.

But in reality here is how the insurance company views you; just like the master viewed the orphans in Oliver Twist. Memorize your lines at 2:24 seconds into the script. The master is your insurance adjuster. The claims person is his superior.
