Things that make you go "argh!" -- financial services edition!

I suppose I can't really fault these financial institutions for being extremely scrupulous, but it's still pretty annoying . . . .  When we moved from Iowa to Oregon, we closed some of the local Iowa bank accounts that hadn't been getting much use anyway.  Also, we sold some stock (yea for 2008/09 market crash, generating losses to offset income!) to raise some capital.


In both instances, the sell/close account order apparently came after an "ex-dividend" date.  However, the interest/dividend hadn't been credited yet, so didn't get included in the checks that were sent to us.

Upshot: we now have a savings account balance with one bank of $0.02, and 4+ shares of a stock that generated $0.68 in the most recent dividend.  And yes, I was mailed a check for $0.68!

ARGH!
