: Mike Conaway's BlogInside with an Intern
My name is Malone Sams and I am from Midland, Texas. I currently attend Texas A&M University. My major is International Studies-Arts & Culture and I will graduate May 2010.
Fall semester of 2007 I awaited my internship with great anticipation.
Now, I have been working as an intern for Congressman Conaway for almost two months. I have learned more then I could have ever expected. I am not even half way through my internship and I cannot even imagine what I will have learned by the end of this semester. It is such an honor to be working for such a highly respected person such as Congressman Conaway. The staff in the Washington D.C. office has been extremely welcoming and patient with me as I learn how to best serve the Congressman. I learn something new from each of the staff members every week. This has been an incredible opportunity to have a better understanding of how the legislative process truly works and prepare me to work in a professional world. This internship has proven right my idea that education does not just take place in the classroom. A political science class at Texas A&M can be taught by a brilliant professor, but there is nothing like truly experiencing life working on the wonderful Capitol Hill. Malone Sams- Intern in Rep. Mike Conaway’s DC Office
