Palin?s Cash for Quitters Program is just another version of the Participation Trophy Syndrome

By Steve Lombardi

ADVERTISEMENTS

David Mastio a senior editor for online opinion at the Washington Post wrote 'Cash for Quitters' wastes Iowa Republicans' capital and he couldn't be more correct in his assessment of Sarah Palin as a quitter and a waste of political capital towards any attempt by the Republican Party to having a serious Presidential candidate. Frankly if she is the party nominee her efforts to make the Republican Party less intelligent will have succeeded.

Only losers want a participation trophy, winners want to win one., Steve Lombardi, Aug. 21, 2009

Participation Trophy Palin

Sarah Palin reminds me of an illness; one that has infected the American Culture and seems resilient to most economic antibiotics. It's what I refer to as the Participation Trophy Syndrome. Instead of parents giving trophy's to losing teams in youth sports we now hand votes to quitters who talk to the talk but don't walk the walk. Cash for quitters is such an appropriate name for someone who is being rewarded financially after quitting the Alaska Governor's position along with the position she held as head of the Alaska state commission.

The fact there are people willing to vote for Sarah Palin is just another sign of the decay in the American culture and the demise of our work ethic. We not only reward losing teams in youth sports (just to make the losing players feel better about themselves) but we also vote for losers as if doubling down on a losing bet will somehow reward us for not being smart enough to tell her to take a hike.

I can't even begin to imagine a Palin Administration. Ms. Palin, do us all a favor and quit now before someone interviews you about anything of substance or a real problem poses a serious challenge and you end up having to break a fingernail. I really don't believe the leaders of either Iran or Russia or North Korea are worried about their fingernails.

And as the Hockey Mom to Nowhere – She killed something but it wasn't the bridge pork. Her reference to fairy's is probably appropriate.

The thing I do like about Sarah Palin is that her foreign policy thinking is so foreign. Her analysis couldn't be any more idiotic.
