Qualifications:

? 7+ years as a practicing patent attorney

? Patent prosecution experience

? Experienced understanding of strong patents

? Strategies for overall company patent portfolio development

? Able to manage portfolio activities with efficient combination of in-house and outside counsel activities

? Develop and manage IP budget

? Patent litigation experience (preferred)

? Strong technical/medical skills?quick study

? Effective interface between technical team/technical priorities, company resources priorities, and IP/legal resources and priorities

? Manage competitive activities and associated resources

Primary responsibilities:

? Develop and execute IP strategies

? Manage IP portfolio and budget

? Interface with technical staff to orchestrate timely, high quality patent applications and project guidance

? Arrange & coordinate patent prosecution activities with outside firms

? Oversight of any IP litigation, interference, re-examinations with outside firms

? Keep current on competitive IP landscape

? Freedom to operate analysis

? Report to CEO

? Interface with Senior Management and company Board of Directors

Other considerations:

? Based in Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota

? Some travel
