Elderly Driver Hits Five People in Brooklyn Church Parking Lot

A 72-year-old man lost control of his vehicle and hit five churchgoers on Sunday, reported The New York Daily News.

Kyongkoo Park, of Queens, had just dropped a passenger off at the Pyeong Ahn Presbyterian Church at 2407 McDonald Avenue in Gravesend when his Mercedes SUV moved forward about ten feet, then suddenly shifted into reverse and accelerated in a semi-circle.

He struck five people, including three women, a 10-year-old girl and a 15-month-old boy, who were leaving church services. Churchgoers ran to help the injured and called 911. One of the women, Sun Won Cho, 40, died at the scene. She had two children ages 8 and 10. Lutheran Medical Center treated the injured.

The accident occurred next to a playground where children looked on in horror. The church's surveillance camera caught the tragedy on tape.

Park was not charged.
