: GamePolitics.comRichard Branson Headed to E3 Expo 2010
By james_fudge
Billionaire Richard Branson is heading to the Electronic Entertainment Expo to make a big announcement, according to MCV. Branson, the boss of Virgin Group (Virgin Records, Virgin Airlines), will be making some sort of game-related announcement at next month's show in Los Angeles. While details are pretty scant, MCV reports that Branson will most likely reveal some sort of online-only, challenge-based gaming service.
Virgin Group is no stranger to the space; in the 1990's it pushed out such hits as Command & Conquer and Cannon Fodder, and helped distribute hits titles in Europe from Capcom including Resident Evil, Devil May Cry and Dino Crisis.
The new gaming service rumored to "launch at E3" will be on the prowl for partnerships with publishers and developers. MCV also thinks, based on information it has gathered, that this new venture will be an online-only offering, be "challenge-based," be available on leading console systems and built using a "technology acquisition."
E3 2010 takes place June 15 - 17 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Read More
