Bad but Potentially Hilarious Idea of the Day: Buy a Google Ad Naming A Hiring Partner

By Eric Lipman

ADVERTISEMENTS
I have to assume it was tongue-in-cheek, but Matthew Homann at The [non]Billable Hour has suggested that one way an attorney in search of a job might increase his or her chances would be to purchase an ad on Google, using the hiring partner's name as a key word. The idea is a variation on the Google Job Experiment employed successfully by advertising copywriter Alec Brownstein. Here's the video showing how it worked for Brownstein: And here's an interview with the Young & Rubicam exec who interviewed and hired Brownstein after coming across the ad. Suffice it to say I don't think that many BigLaw hiring partners would be as impressed as the creative types that run ad agencies ("Hey Howard Ellin -- Hiring Me is Fun!"). But if any of you job seekers out there try it, please keep us in the loop.
