Loan modification misconduct task force claims two more attorneys

Eric Douglas Johnson of the Law Offices of Eric Douglas Johnson in Los Angeles, and Mark Alan Shoemaker of the Law Offices of Mark A. Shoemaker of Long Beach, Calif., are the latest casualties in the State Bar's task force on loan modification misconduct.

State Bar Judge Richard Honn concluded that Johnson "has been derelict in his duties owed to his clients and the profession of law," owing to his lending his name as an attorney to several non-attorney organizations, including Bancarrota.com, the Avantgarde Group, Soluciones Dinamicas Inc. and Noble House Solutions Inc. Homeowners made payments to these companies and still lost their homes, and Johnson, according to the judge, "failed to supervise" these organizations.

Shoemaker owned and operated a loan modification business called Advocate for Fair Lending, and an order outlined 18 examples in which Shoemaker's clients were not helped and asked for refunds.
