: AFL-CIO NOW BLOGJoin First-Ever Young Workers Summit Live
By James Parks
This evening, more than 400 young workers, including 40 Union Summer interns, will kick off the first-ever national AFL-CIO Young Workers Summit in Washington, D.C.
From the opening session until the conference ends June 13, union workers and activists?those who are “Next Up” to lead the union movement?will share with one another and with AFL-CIO leaders their concerns, skills and visions about young people’s role in the union movement and the movement’s future.
Plan to tune into the live webcast and chat Friday morning from 9 a.m. to noon at www.aflcio.org/aboutus/youthsummit/webcast.cfm. The webcast will include a question-and-answer session with AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka, AFL-CIO Secretary-Treasurer Liz Shuler and AFL-CIO Executive Vice President Arlene Holt Baker. You can follow more of the summit here at the blog and on Twitter with the hashtag #aflcionextup. To join our text message list, text aflcio to 225568.
