: Legal Pad | LATemporary stay issued for Dana Point med-marijuana hearing

The 4th District Court of Appeal in Santa Ana issued a temporary stay of a preliminary-injunction hearing scheduled for Tuesday that might have led to the closing of Beach Cities Collective, a medical marijuana dispensary.
Malinda Traudt, who was born with cerebral palsy, epilepsy and blindness, sued Dana Point last month to keep the city from closing the store. Traudt's family purchases medical marijuana from Beach Cities Collective to help manage her pain.
Traudt had initially attempted to intervene in Dana Point's suit against Beach Cities Collective, denied by a judge earlier this month. Jeff Schwartz, her attorney, appealed and sought the appellate court to temporarily halt the injunction hearing by which Traudt would be impacted. The court gave the city until July 13 to respond to Traudt's petition.
