: Slaw.caWho Is in Alberta? News From the Feds.

Today marks the opening of the Calgary Stampede with the annual Stampede Parade. Prime Minister Harper attended. I have always wondered how public figures, like the Prime Minister, balance security with openness. Our Calgary office closes on parade day so I won’t wear my boots until I visit next week.
The Stampede Parade is an exciting kick-off to ten days of good ol? fashioned western fun. Led by our own World Champion Calgary Stampede Showband, the parade showcases floats, bands, riders, cultural entries, and many more! Downtown streets are closed from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., so get your seats early! The 2010 Parade will begin at 9 a.m. on Friday, July 9th.
I recently started monitoring the Canada News Centre with RSS feeds, which is how I know about Prime Minister Harper’s whereabouts. The feeds are very customizable with well written, clear instructions.
Create Your Own Customized RSS News Feed
Using the drop-down menus below, you can create your own customized RSS news feed. To build your feed, simply follow these steps:
* Select from any one or all of the drop-down menus;
* Add one or more keywords (note: you can use simple boolean logic. [ i.e. "immigration" NOT "migration" AND Asia ])
* Click ‘Search’; and
* Copy the URL from the address bar of your browser and paste it in the appropriate field of your RSS Reader.
These feeds could be used to monitor all public events that our Prime Minister is planning to attend. A little scary. A more practical use (the one I use) is identifying information about upcoming legislative or regulatory changes from department news releases. How the heck did we find these things out in the world before the web?
