: Caveat EmptorFree Money Management Spreadsheet
By Sam Glover

If you aren’t keen on giving up your privacy in exchange for personal finance software, and you don’t want to pay for software, spreadsheet template builder Vertex42 has a free money management spreadsheet template that does basically the same thing.
Why go to the trouble, when you can see your account register just fine online? Tracking and categorizing your expenses allows you to get a feel for your spending habits. You can even do a real budget, if you like.
In order to stop spending so much money on, say, entertainment every month, you first need to know what you are spending, and decide what amount would be more reasonable. Once you do that, you can start making the everyday decisions that will leave you with more money for savings, vacations, or whatever your priorities are.
