: Ross-Blakley Law Library BlogFreeing Expressions and First Amendment Rights
By Mariko
Following last week’s post on the copyright of “Happy Birthday,” it seems only right to bring your attention to the Free Expression Network. They have blogged about everything from banned books to the recent case filed to release the names of signers of the petition for Californias Proposition 8, from a Vanderbilt student’s letter concerning differences (and dissonances) between the school’s free speech promises and its Community Code and about Net Neutrality. You will also find links to organizations such as the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education (or FIRE), the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund (CBLDF), the American Library Association Office for Intellectual Freedom (ALA-OIF), the American Association of University Professors (AAUP), the Student Press Law Center (SPLC), and many more.
Be warned, though, that as an organization campaigning for freedom of expression, the writers at Free Expression Network don’t always pull their punches, and may say things that you disagree with or even that you are offended by, and while it’s far from rampant, there is occasional cursing in the articles.
