Xbox Theft Leads Police to Meth Lab

By james_fudge

ADVERTISEMENTS

Police arrested a 36-year old St. Johns County, Florida woman on Thursday for running a methamphetamine lab out of her home. The ordeal began when the woman's 24 year-old roommate called the police about a stolen Xbox. Deputies said that Gibson went into the roommate's room, removed an Xbox and two controllers, and gave them to an unidentified man to pawn before the man arrived home.

When police went to question the woman, Wendy Marie Gibson, they noticed a large chemical cloud behind her. They immediately ordered the house cleared and a hazmat team called in. Deputies discovered that equipment used to manufacture the drug methamphetamine in the home after the smoke cleared. Police charged Gibson with possession of meth, manufacturing a controlled substance, grand theft (for the stolen Xbox) and several other drug-related charges. Gibson is currently in the St. Johns County jail with a bond of $16,000.

Gibson was arrested on August 8 in another meth lab drug bust across the street at 20 Barcelona Ave. Charges are still pending.
