: GamePolitics.comNPD: Connected Devices Struggle to Move Content
By james_fudge
A recent report from NPD Group finds that connected devices are having trouble when it comes to downloadable content. According to data from the retail research firm 75 percent of U.S. consumers chose not connect to or download multimedia content, including games, music, video, and e-books over the past three months. The majority of consumers who did download content (about 15 percent) did most of it via PCs or Macs.
According to NPD, home game consoles were only used by 6 percent of consumers to download content, while 4 percent downloaded content via a smartphone and 2 percent used a Blu-ray player or a set-top box to obtain content.
While the numbers might be disparaging to device owners, NPD predicts that this will change in the future.
