: GamePolitics.comOnLive Eliminates Monthly Fee
By james_fudge
Cloud-based gaming service OnLive has eliminated its monthly service fee, according to a Venture Beat report. OnLive launched in June of this year with a monthly fee of $4.95 a month. The problem for many consumers was that they had to pay for games separately on top of the monthly fee. That is no longer a barrier to entry.
The service will soon launch a new trial program that allows users to watch live games being played or play games without paying a fee. For members, OnLive offers three-day, five-day, and full play game rentals.
According to Venture Beat, OnLive is valued at $1.1 billion. The company is funded by investors such as AT&T, Warner Bros., Autodesk, Lauder Partners, BT, Belgacom and Maverick Capital.
