I've been thinking about Christmas reform.  Let's face it, as merry as it is, the holiday could stand some improving.  I know people love tradition, but let's face it, as Justice Holmes said, the worst reason to do something is just because it was done that way in the time of William the Conqueror.  I'd like to socialize the whole thing, but that has no realistic shot.  I don't reckon anyone is likely to go for celebrating it every two years instead of annually either, although there is a lot to be said for the idea.  How about this? Let's move it into February. December is already charming, and it has New Year's Eve, and pro football, and in December terrible weather has novelty appeal going for it.  By the time February rolls around we are all sick of of cold, snow and dark-- why not celebrate Christmas then, when everyone's spirits use some brightening up?
