: GamePolitics.comBMO Capital Markets 2011 Predictions
By james_fudge
Analyst Edward S. Williams of BMO Capital Markets sent out a report this evening offering his interactive entertainment outlook for 2011.
He predicts that the global interactive entertainment software market will grow 4 - 6 percent in 2011, driven by Xbox 360 software, "significant growth" in digital content, and the PS3 platform. He describes sales of HD console platforms (Xbox 360 and PS3) as "good" and notes that legacy hand-held devices and Wii will continue to have weight in the sector.
He also predicts growth in the iOS, Android, Facebook, and web games sector, as well as the downloadable content space.
Finally, he notes that holiday sales were mixed; with strong sales of Xbox 360 hardware and Kinect, a significant demand for Call of Duty games, and continued weakness for the Nintendo Wii. He adds that GameStop continued to gain market share.
