It appears that other bankruptcy lawyers have talked about that very issue, and here is somebody else who did so, specifically with an eye to scripture. And here's another take by Johnathan Alper, who points out that without bankruptcy, we wouldn't have Disneyland!
I think I'll look around and find additional posts on this topic that are based on non-biblical considerations (for instance, does it make sense to spend all your retirement on credit card debt, only to need to go to your children for support when all your retirement funds have been spent?), and I'll add those as time goes on.
