: GamePolitics.comSurvey Says Today's Kids are Technology Savvy
By james_fudge
A survey from Internet security firm (and virus protection maker) AVG reveals that more kids know how to play video games than how to ride a bike, swim or even tie their shoes. The survey proves that youngsters are tech savvy when it comes to using a computer.
According to the AVG survey, 69 percent of children aged 2-5 know how operate a computer mouse, and 58 percent can play a game on the computer. Now compare that to the rest of the survey results: of those respondents, only 11 percent knew how to tie their shoes, 20 percent knew how to swim and 52 percent knew how to ride a bicycle. Boys and girls under the age of 5 were equal in their knowledge of using technology.
The study also found Italian children were particularly adept at using mobile phones. According to the survey, 44 percent were able to make a phone call using a cell phone, compared to 30 percent of U.S. kids.
