Report: Xbox 360 Update Halts Call of Duty Pirates

While the new Xbox 360 mandatory update may have added a few small things, there was one secret thing that it accomplished: halted scores for pirates and hackers playing Call of Duty: Black Ops and Modern Warfare 2 on the console on Xbox Live. The update was billed under the guise of re-enabling automatic boot a to disc, and some changes to some graphics.

console. Members of the Xbox-Scene forums became suspicious when the update took a "suspiciously long time" to download. They discovered that their "backup copies of Call of Duty games ceased to work. They believe the update enables "an anti-piracy feature that specifically targets burned copies."

Naturally Microsoft isn't saying anything about it.
