The Day After The Day After

Posted on February 17, 2008
Saturday and Sunday have come and gone. Went into work yesterday and got that application draft out. Didn't do all that much today, relaxed mostly. Even though tomorrow is a holiday, I'm going in to work. Need to get things done and I'm going to take Friday off to go to Toronto with movie...

Last Warning

Posted on February 15, 2008
Thus far, today has been a bad day. Very bad.The partners chewed me out. The trigger was/is an overdue application draft (fourth draft), though the discussion went beyond that. I don't blame either of the partners ? they're completely in the right here...

Happy Make-Single-People-Feel-Bad Day!

Posted on February 14, 2008
Because really, isn't that the net effect if not the overall goal?I opined on this back in '05: You know what? Although Valentine's Day, in theory, is supposed to be a celebration of love and relationships and all that fuzzy stuff, I think it's also, in practice that is, a kick in the teeth to those of us who are single...

Crap Crap Crap (aka The Descent Into Madness)

Posted on February 11, 2008
At work this morning, I screwed up a bit and, more significantly, really pissed off one of the main partners (the one I work with). Further to my previous post, I am screwing up more these days, not less. This is bad. Really bad.My goal was to make it another year...

WOOT!

Congrats go out to Cara & Dave on the recent birth of their son, Matthew!!! Yay you guys! They are now officially the second pair of my law school friends to have a child.

Brilliant Observation

Posted on January 25, 2008
From a few moments ago: Sane people are asleep right now. Therefore, I must be not sane or insane.More specifically, I am at work attempting to finish a provisional application draft that *must* go out. *sigh*

Wake Up Call?

Posted on January 18, 2008
Wow. I very nearly screwed something up today. As in I almost irrevocably fucked something up big time. These days, something is wrong with me. I've accepted that. It primarily manifests as a distinct desire not to do work and a distinct lack of work output...

MORE WEDDINGS!

Posted on January 09, 2008
Congratulations go out to Rochelle-Rochelle and Greg-Man on their engagement! Greg-Man, you better save me a dance! The Actuaries Are Multiplying!!!(Well not really, but it sounded amusing in my head.)Congratulations go out to The Actuary & Soon-To-Be Mrs...

Life in the Household

Posted on January 09, 2008
This past weekend, my mom had a date. While this should not be unexpected, shocking or weird, it is, in fact, all three (for me at any rate). I've gone out on a few dates while living at home these past 2.4 years (1 blind date, 2 JDate dates), but I've been reluctant to strongly attempt any sort of dating at least partially due to my living at home with my mom (and dog, formerly dogs)...

Next-Gen DVD Format Wars Coming to an End?

Posted on January 09, 2008
Big news ? Warner (owned by Time Warner) has announced that later this year it's going Blu-ray exclusive. Some are suggesting that this is the deathknell for HD-DVD, the other competing next-gen DVD format. While HD-DVD is far from dead (yet, anyways), I suspect that this announcement will be the (next) nail in the coffin...

Saturday, December 8th

Posted on January 09, 2008
(I wrote this shortly thereafter and did not post it.)This past Saturday, I had two interesting events planned ? meeting up with law school friends (aka a Gathering) & my 10-year high school reunion. The Gathering was alright. There were only seven of us there (including those under the age of 1) ? Capt...

Ecch!

Posted on January 09, 2008
I just ate a strawberry yogurt-covered pretzel and thought to myself: "Hey! This tastes like vomit!"Maybe not the best "I have returned (maybe)" post, but I have additional posts on the way.

Happy New Year!

Posted on December 31, 2007
Yes, this post is about 12 hours too early. Deal.Within the next hour or so, I shall be on my way up to Hartford to rendezvous with movie.girl. 1-2 movies today, at least 2 movies tomorrow. Tonight I believe we shall be attending: a party she was invited to and a party at the actuary's (technically, at the actuary & his fiancé's)...

Happy Holidays!

Posted on December 25, 2007
& Merry Christmas!(A mildly ironic post given that I didn't post a 'Happy Chanukah!' this year.)Cheers!

Holy Crap! (Woot!)

Posted on December 11, 2007
Year-end review today. Sweet bonus + salary increase = yay!Drinks are on me.P.S. Minor backlog of additional posts. Will follow shortly (for varying definitions of "shortly").

An Interesting Day

Posted on December 08, 2007
Today should be fun. This afternoon I'm meeting up with law school friends (or some of them, at any rate) for the first gathering in about 1.5 years. Oh I've seen some of them in the interim, of course (e.g., weddings, few people I've met up with), but this is the first group-gathering I've put together in a long while...

Hazy

Posted on November 29, 2007
A fair amount of things since the last post.Saw Wicked at the Bushnell Theater last night with movie.girl. Amazing show! I highly recommend catching it if they come to a theater near you. This was a rather spur of the moment viewing that she arranged last weekend...

Rantings & Ravings

Posted on November 10, 2007
Because it's really starting to get to me.I've been extremely crunched at work of late. Back on Monday 10/29, I billed about 14 hours, working from 6:25am-6:30pm and from 10:45pm-2:30am. This past Thursday 11/08, I billed about 10.5 hours, working from 9:15am-7:30pm and from 10:45pm-2:45am...

"Everything You Never Wanted To Know About Crohns Disease"

Posted on November 04, 2007
Via Boing Boing I found: "Everything You Never Wanted To Know About Crohns Disease" by Tom Humberstone (21.10.2007).As BoingBoing explained:Tom Humberstone produced this wonderful comic for last week's 24-hour-comic challenge, called "Everything You Never Wanted to Know About Crohn's Disease...

LEVEL 70!

Posted on October 29, 2007
Last night, I FINALLY got to level 70 with my Warlock in World of Warcraft! The expansion came out on January 16, 2007 (thank you Wikipedia). I guess it's taken me 9.5 months but I finally did it.I s'pose the next step is to get a (regular) flying mount...

Errata

Posted on October 29, 2007
Correction for the previous post that I don't feel like inserting as an addendum.Dancing with LF was not the first slow dance at the 4 weddings this season. It was the second. This morning as I was getting ready for work, I remembered something from Mattman's wedding in Michigan last month...

The JB-LT (LT-JB) Wedding

Posted on October 28, 2007
Friday afternoon, two very good friends of mine, LT & JB (or JB & LT), were married out on Long Island. T'was a fun affair. There were a few of us law students in attendance so I got to see some faces I hadn't seen since The Lawless One's wedding in August and other faces I hadn't seen in a very long time...

The cake is a lie.

Posted on October 23, 2007
I really didn't intend for the previous post to remain at the top for a week. It's just that first I couldn't think of a topic then I ran out of time. I'm still out of time now, but I want something else up.Movie.girl is awol for a week and a half (where awol means she's in Israel with her mom)...

Austin

Posted on October 13, 2007
We put Austin (one of our two dogs) to sleep today.Last Monday, we learned that he had cancer. His body wasn't producing any white or red blood cells. We were told his condition was very poor, that one infection, any infection, would kill him. Where once he weighed 24 lbs, he was down to 14...

Gift Certificates & Connecticut

Posted on October 12, 2007
Connecticut has a gift card law preventing gift cards and gift certificates purchased by shoppers in CT from expiring. Two interesting things I learned about this today.First, the law does not apply to bank cards such as gift credit cards issued by a bank or multi-store mall cards issued by a bank...

Tales of Late Night Work

Posted on October 09, 2007
October 8-9, 2007:10:45pm - I am at work. Again. Broke for dinner and two hours of tv (Chuck and Heroes). I have a provisional to finish and possibly something else to do. My vision is slightly blurry and I estimate 1.5-2 hours of work for the first item...
