Friday latenightblogging
Posted on February 23, 2008My favorite way to spend a Friday night is reviewing journal staffers’ work and discovering someone didn’t actually do their work[1], all while not being at Law Prom. [2] And I know this because, hi, you didn’t note any problems at all with all those id...
Scheduling
Posted on February 21, 2008I have never been good at organizing my time in any realistic fashion. I generally just sit down and do the work I have to do, in no particular order and without deliberately chunking tasks. For the remainder of this semester?the remainder of my law school career?that is not going to fly...
9-finger typing
Posted on February 14, 2008The semester has officially caught up with me. But I am seeing the light at the end of the tunnel?in the last few days I’ve finished or offloaded three major projects and made huge headway towards totally completing a fourth. I have two major things left to do, one which (sigh) I am already hugely behind on which has repercussions for other people (i...
Law School Roundup #108
Posted on February 12, 2008Welcome to this week’s very delayed Law School Roundup, featuring posts by law students about, well, everything, but mostly about being law students and people. (Vague, yes.) Enjoy! Mean Girls They start so early. 2L Wannabe Prep Why bother? Law and Floss Admiralty It can come up when you least expect it...
this is just to let you know
Posted on February 09, 2008I will be out of pocket all day tomorrow (7 am to sometime in the late-night hours) so the Roundup will be posted on Monday. Remember, you can submit links for posts you liked that you think should be featured in the Roundup. In fact, I encourage it! See you Monday.
A new toy!
Posted on February 08, 2008Because of continuing problems with my wrists, l bought a Wacom Bamboo, a tablet and pen (input device). I’m trying to see how well Apple’s handwriting recognition software works for sending text to various applications?like my browser for posting on Le Blog...
Monday fogblogging
Posted on February 04, 2008Last night’s Super Bowl gathering ended with people scattering into the unexpected snow and, this morning, that snow has turned into icky, drippy fog. What better weather, then, for sitting at home in my sweats and getting work done? None, I tell you, none...
in honor of football
Posted on February 03, 2008Super Bowl Sunday is nothing without the right food. My necessary Super Bowl food is brisket. Here, my dears, is the recipe. 1 8-12 lb. brisket, trimmed but not too much (you need some fat for flavor!) 2 tbsp minced garlic or 2 tsp. garlic powder Cavender’s Greek Seasoning Season salt Kosher salt Fresh ground pepper 1 can of Coke (must be COKE, not Diet Coke or Dr...
wrong number? YOU’RE the wrong number!
Posted on February 02, 2008What is it about “I’m sorry, you have the wrong number,” that is so hard to buy? Why do wrong-number callers always insist you are wrong? Why did the wrong-number caller who just called me say, “But this is the number she gave me!” Well, then, she probably didn’t want to hear from you again, sorry...
I wish I were happy for Fridays
Posted on February 01, 2008TGIF my foot. Between the piles of snow that fell on us last night, the frustration of dealing with some administrative hassles, and the never-ending sinus congestion, today has been a pretty pissy day. Fridays always seem to end up like this. I think it’s because, as I finish out the week, I have to deal with all the little things that have piled up over the last five days, and that inevitably leads to me being disappointed in the way someone did something, which leads to me having to put on my “scolding” hat, and GOSH do I hate that hat...
embarrassing factoid about me
Posted on January 31, 2008I’m just going to shamefully admit again how much I love disaster movies, and how pathetic that makes me. Still, watching Volcano in HD?even if it’s not the first movie I’d think of watching in HD?is pretty nice. Back to editing with Tommy Lee in the background.
what do you think?
Posted on January 31, 2008It’s finally happened. After nearly three years of regular abuse, my trusty 12″ Powerbook is becoming a bit gimpy. The handrests are pitted all to hell, the case is a little bent in places, and the power supply connection is getting finicky again...
just . . . shhhhh
Posted on January 29, 2008Dear 1Ls, Your inane, annoying, and mostly inaccurate conversation about getting jobs, being wined and dined, partying, and how you have no idea how to get to parts of the law school that are parts of the law school make me think even less of you than I already did...
a Monday list
Posted on January 28, 2008It’s 1 o’clock. What have I done today? Read background materials for a clinic assignment. Wrote up some questions for my conference call with the supervising attorney this afternoon. Finished my bar exam application. Submitted it online (and paid for it)...
Weekly Law School Roundup #106
Posted on January 28, 2008Welcome to this week’s Law School Roundup, in which I point to a few posts that caught my eye over the last week or so. Apologies for the lateness (and for the shortness) of this Roundup?I’m struggling with the eighty-seven-millionth cold I’ve had since September, and it’s hard to think through the snot...
minivacay
Posted on January 23, 2008My schedule this semester (and Mr. Angst’s, while we’re at it) really precludes us from taking a real vacation before I graduate. (Frankly, if things go the way we hope they willl, we won’t be taking any sort of vacation any time soon...
what I did today
Posted on January 21, 2008Today I: Spilled my breakfast shake all over the kitchen. I had my stand mixer in the accompanying mixing cup, when I left the two of them, upright, on the counter to grab a little more milk?my shake was too thick. I poured the milk, put it back in the fridge, and heard a thud...
why didn’t i go to law school in San Diego?
Posted on January 20, 2008You konw there’s something wrong with the world when you see the temperature display outside a bank and it says “10°” and you think, “Oh, that’s downright balmy.” And, compared to yesterday, your observation is true...
a good start after all!
Posted on January 15, 2008The last week has been good. I’m getting settled back into school, adjusting to my new schedule (which I love), eating healthier, taking more breaks from the computer . . . in general, I think I’ve started the year well. Best of all, I’ve lost 3 pounds by having a homemade fruit-and-yogurt smoothie for breakfast every day, and going to the gym with Mr...

oh gag
Posted on January 08, 2008Look, it’s bad enough that I have to report all my addresses since I was 18. But it’s even worse that, in the four years I was in college, I lived in the dorms (i.e., didn’t have a year-round address of my own at college) AND my parents moved pretty much every year...
party recap and other stuff
Posted on January 06, 2008The party was a success, as these things are measured. The salsa was obliterated, almost all of the tamales (that we put out?I saved a dozen for myself and stashed them in the freezer) were eaten, and our guests even made a significant dent in the sausage cheese balls (which did not benefit from being reheated?next time I won’t make those ahead of time)...
