Fight Global Warming!

Posted on May 22, 2008
Yesterday I drove back to Bloomington to get the rest of my stuff. I got almost all of it, but along the way I saw a billboard. It was something like this: Which, to me, sounds a lot like this: More evidence is now coming out that makes the current propaganda thinking global warming sound suspiciously like [...

Another Step

Posted on May 17, 2008
So today I went on a little adventure with everyone’s favorite labrador. Our mission was to find a dog park before Mr. McScouterson simply exploded from excess energy build up. We found one and therein he found a big, muddy mud-puddle. Fortunately said dog park also had a hose, and he definitely got a good hose-down...

What About Sodomy?

Posted on May 16, 2008
I find this perplexing: A former teacher at Early High School turned herself in to police last week and was charged with having an inappropriate relationship with an 18-year-old male student. Joy Blackstock, 23, was indicted May 1 by the Brown County grand jury...

On The Horizon

Posted on May 15, 2008
I can neither confirm nor deny my involvement in the big announcement that Nico has posted at Roll ‘Bama Roll. [W]e’ve been working on a book about our beloved Crimson Tide that will hit bookstore shelves later this summer, just before the season starts (probably sometime in July or early August...

Charity & Chicken Biscuits

Posted on May 15, 2008
So Kevin teamed up with Orson from EDSBS and put on Charity Bowl. The basic concept was this: donate to the Red Cross, and your team gets credit for it. Over the course of three days, bloggers and fans piled up $20,000, which is incredible. Congrats, Kevin! In other incredibly pressing news, I went to McDonald’s [...

Being An Adult Is Weird

Posted on May 14, 2008
So here I am… a week and a half into a a new city, a new apartment, and a new job. Scout and I are still getting acclimated, but so far here’s how I feel about things. Springfield… kinda sucks right now. Part of it is me — I’ve moved around a lot in my life, [...

Now That I Have a Doctorate

Posted on May 10, 2008
Does anyone remember “Magnum Matt“? He was the “dude” who spent several days stalking me via website so that he could tell me how stupid I was. He knew he was right because he had a degree and I hadn’t graduated from Alabama yet...

I Fought The Law

Posted on May 04, 2008
…and, surprisingly, I won. Today is the first day of the rest of my life. This is a stupid thing to say since, really, every day is the first day of the rest of your life. Unless you plan to start living backwards, which I don’t. Today is also the first day with my new Alma [...

The More You Know?

Posted on April 14, 2008
Indiana Code Section 15-2.1-21-13(b): A person who dyes, stains, or otherwise alters the natural coloring of a bird or rabbit commits a Class B misdemeanor. Ladies and gentlemen, keep your festive colors off of those chicks and rabbits.

Awesome And Sad, All At Once

Posted on April 03, 2008
I love this: On the other hand, it makes it seem like there’s something of a formula to new music these days. Ahh well. (via: Kristin Hoppe)

Lappy: Dead

Posted on April 02, 2008
So, yesterday I was wasting some time on my computers… both of them at once, might I add, when the laptop spontaneously shut down. Being the trained computer professional that I am, I knew exactly what this was: Bad News. It didn’t take long to figure out that the problem is (at least) the harddrive...

No More Blingo

Posted on March 27, 2008
Sometime in the past day or two, Blingo made a really, really awful change. They dumped Google. Now if you search Blingo, you get Windows Live, Yahoo, and Ask.com search results. Google’s nowhere to be found, and repeats (the same result from two different engine) are common...

Let Them Play

Posted on March 23, 2008
It’s interesting… basketball is a sport whose fans are regularly heard to bitch about the refs “deciding the game” at the end, and the popular refrain is “let them play.” Honestly, I think that’s dumb. If you don’t want a foul called on you, don’t commit one...

Happy Birthday, Scouters

Guess who turns 2 years old today? This Guy! He’s now old enough to breed, genetics willing.

On Graduation Awards

Posted on March 21, 2008
A few weeks ago nominations the first round of voting was opened for three graduation awards: student speaker, outstanding contribution to student life, and the gavel award. Today we got an email with the finalists, so I’m going to use this space stump for my preferred candidates...

If It?s Against The Law

Posted on March 04, 2008
…nobody will do it, right? One of my crazy, leftist facebook friends posted a link to a “lie in”. They’re protesting how easy it is for “dangerous people” to get guns. Obviously making it harder for everyone to get guns will solve the problem, right? So people who obey the law will have even more hurdles [...

About that Satellite

Posted on February 22, 2008
So, the Navy shot down an errant spy satellite today. The story they gave was concern over the toxicity of the fuel… and the media seemed to lap that up. Why is it that nobody has mentioned the fact that this satellite probably has millions of dollars worth of classified technology on it that other nations [...

Victory? Kinda.

Posted on February 19, 2008
I called Amjal Safi, the Enterprise Manager, back today. His response to my claim that there’s no “detailing fee” in the agreement was “It also doesn’t say you can take your dog in the car.” Excuse me? Among some other things it doesn’t say I can do: Eat food...

Livin? The Dream

Posted on February 18, 2008
Today my car stopped starting. Given my vast mechanical knowledge, I’m 5% certain that it is the battery. Or maybe a fuse, but probably the battery. Tomorrow I’m going to see if jumping it will help. If that’s not the problem, I think it’s time to get rid of it...

Baby Pictures!

Posted on February 16, 2008
Not my baby, of course. I took a little drive to Illinois yesterday (hence the lack of posting) but I did take a whole lot of pictures. She’s such a tiny little thing. Observe: Click for more pictures of Reese Scout also got to meet some ferrets, which was pretty funny.

Uncle Pete In Da House

Posted on February 13, 2008
So, after a false alarm earlier in the week, I inched one step closer to world domination this afternoon and became an uncle. No pictures as of yet, but I should be headed to Illinois this weekend to see mommy Kecia and baby Reese. If I get any pics between now and then, I’ll have them [...

Testing Blog-by-berry

Posted on February 12, 2008
So I finally replaced my somewhat ancient cell phone with the blackberry I linked in the last post. So far, I’m really liking it. A lot. I cannot even imagine not having a real, full keyboard. I’ve also started using mu AIM screenname toomuchpete on the phone, so feel free to add that back onto your buddy [...

I Failed

Posted on February 11, 2008
So… the New Year’s Resolution came to a screeching halt yesterday when I just plum forgot to post. Oops. I guess it had to happen eventually, no? Anyway… my phone has finally reached the point that it cannot go a single day of use without being charged and I’m sick of it… so I’ll be getting [...
