Do Not, I Repeat, Do Not, Wait Until They Have a Judgment Against You to Seek Help from an Arizona Bankruptcy Attorney!

By Joseph McDaniel, Esq.

ADVERTISEMENTS
I've said it before, and clearly I didn't say it loudly enough: don't let somebody take a judgment against you before you go to talk to a bankruptcy lawyer in Arizona.

I know all about deer-in-the-headlights syndrome, and I understand depression. I know that you are confused and suffering, and I can't help that until you drop in to talk. But do not indulge yourself in vacillation, confusion, or emotions.

Those are luxuries you can scarce afford when you get served with a lawsuit, and you will regret indulging in them as time goes by.

So when you get sued, immediately contact your friendly neighborhood Arizona bankruptcy attorney, because, darn!

Come on. Help me help you, okay? Meet me in the middle, right?

Once a creditor has a judgment against you, the fight is not over; but you've permitted yourself to be hit with a sucker punch that wasn't required, and you are now at a disadvantage that was not necessary.

Can you discharge a judgment in the same way that you discharge an unsecured debt in Arizona?

Sorta. But they may have obtained a judgment lien on your house, and that means more work and therefore more money to fix the problem.

Oddly, I want you to pay me as little money as we can manage for the work that must be done.

So let's not multiply the number of projects for which you need to hire my firm, right?

Okay?

p.s. there are other issues associated with a judgment creditor in Arizona, and one of them is that we can't fight about the amount of money that you owe that creditor if they file a Complaint to Determine Dischargeability of Debt, only whether the debt is dischargeable. And that's a big deal, darn it! And there is the fact that a judgment creditor can make your life more difficult with judgment debtor exams prior to filing. And that goes to the amount of suffering you have to endure in the entire process.

So let's keep your suffering at a minimum; what do you say?
