MCCARTHY TO CRIMINAL

Barbara McCarthy has been tapped to replace Carlos Rodriguez, starting next week. Congratulations to Rodriguez, who bravely brought a modern perspective to Broward criminal courts since being appointed by a Republican governor.  As one lawyer put it earlier today, his only crime was his honesty.  He refused to hide behind terse appellate court approved judicial buzz words when making his rulings like other judges do, and he stopped short of enacting proceedings to hold the ASA in question in contempt of court, as he could have done.  Hopefully the full transcripts will come out to vindicate him. The SAO may have exacted their pound of flesh, but it may not be over.  Rumors of ex-parte dealings behind the scenes and questions about the SAO's motivations in prosecuting the Motions are flying...continue to full post
