Tennessee Lethal Injection Challenge Dismissed

By Steve Hall

ADVERTISEMENTS
"Judge dismisses lawsuit by Tennessee death row inmate against lethal injection protocol," is the AP report via Memphis' KREG-TV. A federal judge has dismissed a lawsuit by death row inmate Edward Jerome Harbison against the state's lethal injection protocol. Harbison wanted to amend his lawsuit with information about autopsies on two inmates who have been executed. U.S. District Court Judge Aleta A. Trauger on Monday dismissed claims in his 2006 lawsuit. Harbison had been scheduled to be executed in January 2008 but had won a stay pending his claims. Earlier coverage from Tennessee is here, here, and here; related posts are in the lethal injection index.
