: Legal Ethics ForumBusy month for lawyers and sex with clients
What's going on? I'm hoping that we will quickly return to news of mere conflicts and such.
We now have news of a Michigan discipline matter, Grievance Administrator v. Mikat, involving a lawyer who had sex with the client's spouse, which follows on news of the recent decision out of South Carolina dealing with the same scenario, as well as the recent incident in Canada where the lawyer asked the client to have sex with the lawyer's spouse (who was also a lawyer and soon to be appointed to the bench). (h/t: Law of Criminal Defense)
UPDATE: And then there's this case out of Arizona, previously covered by Mike Frisch at Legal Profession Blog and Alberto Bernabe at Professional Responsibility blog, about the lawyer who claimed to be channeling the spirit of the client's deceased wife. The lawyer informed the client that his dead wife wanted the client to sleep with the lawyer.
