: Dispatches from the Culture WarsDumbass Quote of the Day
By Ed Brayton
From the Wall Street Journal's editors, discussing the ruling in Caperton v Massey and making a silly attempt at psychoanalysis of Justice Kennedy for suggesting that if one side gives $3 million to get a judge elected, that just might cause them to be biased:
Justice Kennedy may have indulged this intervention because his jurisprudence has always tended toward a presumption of judges as a superior, anointed class.
Right. He just handed down a ruling declaring that judges cannot be counted on to decide for themselves when they are biased and must step aside when one side pays them off because he views judges as a "superior, anointed class." I'm sure there's some sort of bizarro world where that statement is rational, but it sure as hell isn't this one.
