: Dispatches from the Culture WarsLopez Cries Polling Conspiracy
By Ed Brayton
This is what happens when someone utterly clueless about polling tries to write about polling, in this case the National Review's Kathryn Lopez:
Listen, I am not a poll conspiracy theorist. At least I don't want to be. But what the heck? McCain was leading last night suddenly. Now he's most definitely not. What's up with that? I'll tell you what's up with that. I promise you I am not delusional, but: The only poll that matters is real votes. See you on Election Day.
No, what's up with that is simply that you had a very small one day anomalous sample taken by a polling company that uses poor methodology and that very small one day anomalous sample was immediately trumpeted by Drudge and other hacks as if it were meaningful. And Lopez fell for it. You're not delusional, you're just ignorant. And you haven't bothered to do even the minimal amount of research to change that, yet you still spout off about it.
