: Dispatches from the Culture WarsMichigan has Top Chef Contestant
By Ed Brayton
This is very cool. Michigan, which has a fairly serious lack of really good restaurants (I say sadly, being a serious foodie), has a contestant on the new season of Top Chef. Yes, I am a Top Chef addict -- and not only because of Padma Lakshmi (who, unfortunately, is dumb as a stump but astonishingly beautiful). The contestant is Eve Aranoff, owner of Eve restaurant in Ann Arbor.
I've never been to her restaurant. Heck, I'd never even heard of it before, but I'm told by a fellow foodie friend that it's quite good. Now I can't wait to check it out. In October I'm going with a friend to Michael Symon's restaurant Roast in Detroit, where I shall indulge in an appetizer of roasted bone marrow. Can't wait.
