Madoff Investors Deluged by News Media

ADVERTISEMENTS
I don't have the time to spend posting all day..but I had to slip this in...I just received this from one of our investors...so I thought I'd share his question and my reply.

Bernie, I wrote you yesterday saying how much I loved the blog. I have to admit I lost a few bucks in this fiasco. Thank G-d nothing earth shattering, but enough to make me cut back on a whole bunch of shit. I'm ok with it though. The whole country was living way way beyond their means and my wake up call was alot less painful than others. In any event, there was a voice mail on my home phone from a reporter from a local paper who wanted to interview me as a victim since my name was on the list published today. Whaddaya think I should do?

From Bernie:
I thought I had replied to your note yesterday. Must be the mad cow setting in..

But I do thank you!

F--king reporters are going to be smiling and dialing more than shit pants brokers at those OTC bucket shops. I'm putting together a class action suit against Picard for letting that kind of info into the public domain.

Its disgraceful what they did! I'm betting $100k right now that someone in Picard's camp comes out and says "Oops, made a mistake...we're sorry.."

I love the remorse thing, and I love President Obama setting a good example, and I love Mary Shapiro doing her apology act on behalf of the morons from her staff that testified yesterday, but whatever idiot made that investor list public didn't make a "small" mistake.

So to answer your question: Talking to reporters is a double-edged sword. Trust me. They'll take your words and chew them up into something different. Not Janey Wells though. She's OK in my book.

The only thing most reporters might get straight is spellingl your name right. If they can copy and paste from the mailing list anyway. That's about the only accuracy you can count on from the media these days.

So what do I think you should do? Tell them you're charging $5000 for interviews. Otherwise- f--k them. You've got bills to pay. Just like me. Just like Ezra. Just like Walter. Just like Shana. So, why should they be exploiting you to sell their f--king newspapers??? The f--king reporter is getting paid, so you should get paid!! You're the one with the information!!!

If you want-don't even propose the $5k fee, and just tell the reporter to go shit in the woods and bring along a roll of Madoff's Toilet Paper.. 3 rolls for only $24...they can buy right here off this blog. If he asks what you're doing with your investment strategy now, tell him you're now investing in Madoff Mania Inc...
read about it on my posting yesterday..
