I'm guessing that you already know who I am.

Not because I'm the reporter that's famous for peering into windows in order to get a story (by the way, I really do love your place in Nantucket--but those boxers of your's need to go!).

And not because I'm the reporter that outed your Dad in my Barron's column back in 2001, before there was a blog like this one, and before that nutcase Harry Markopolos started his ranting.

And, not because I'm the one with the upcoming book that everyone is talking about--the book that really digs behind the curtains and peels back the onions, so to speak.

Actually, I don't know exactly how you know me, but you must. Why else would you have included me in the email messages that you've been sending out to friends over the past few days?

I suppose that its possible that the email wasn't really from you, and its one of those "phishing emails", but I know that you love to fish, and the email did come from your personal address, so I'm only guessing that you're reaching out to build a support group.

You and me both! If I told you how much I was getting paid to write the book, you'd laugh.

The fact is, even if my book "Too Good To Be True" (from Penguin's Portfolio division) is going to make Diana Enriques book read like a reprint from the New York Times, and make Rich Behar's "expose" read like a Time Magazine article, writers, especially investigative journalists, don't get paid squat.

We get paid even less than your Dad's 'trusted secretary Squiggy Squillari.

But, since you're reaching out for support, I'm the hand that can help feed you. Don't bite it, though. You know what they say about a woman scorned. And trust me, I'm hearing from more than a few scorned women that have lots to say about the Madoff's--and my book has room for a few more chapters before it goes to the printing press.
